The Department of Administrative Services Transportation Services
Bureau is currently seeking an Automotive Mechanic II to join their
team. The Automotive Mechanic performs intermediate level
diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of
automotive vehicles. Including fuel, ignition, brakes, suspension,

preventive maintenance of automotive vehicles. Performs diagnosis,
repair and/or replaces automotive vehicle safety components such as
brakes, steering, stability control, and tires. Disassembles
automotive vehicles, inspects parts for failure and/or wear;
repairs, replaces, or rebuilds parts utilizing specialized tools
and precision measuring instruments. Performs diagnosis, repair
and/or replaces automotive vehicle powertrain components such as
engine, transmission and transaxles. Assist Auto Technician with
complex repairs and provides direction to Mechanic 1 and Auto
Service Workers. All other duties assigned within the scope of the
classification. Requirements / Qualifications Minimum
Qualifications: Eighth grade education or equivalent plus three
years practical work experience in auto mechanics or vocational
technical school and auto related work experience. Preferred
Qualifications: Requires certification from the Automotive Services
Excellence(ASE) as an Auto Maintenance and Light Repair Technician
within one year of employment. Maintenance of certification is a
condition of employment. Other: This position requires driving. As
such, the incumbent must provide a valid driver's license. Regular
