SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF WORK Professionals at this level are experienced and able to work with a minimum of supervision. Educational requirements are very specific. Decision making, problem solving, and highly developed interpersonal skills are critical. This position will work within a team environment. The individual will have the ability to sign up for weekday, evening/overnight or weekend coverage according to their availability. Frequency of coverage is extremely flexible. On Call therapists are expected to cover one week on call every four to six weeks. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (with possible evenings and weekends) Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides crisis intervention and assessment of clients for law enforcement, court systems, hospital emergency rooms, and self-referrals. Determines client needs and makes recommendations and referrals to the appropriate levels of care. Assessments are provided on-site, face to face, or via tele-health where the crisis is occurring.
  • Conducts a crisis focused assessment and documentation to be completed within 24-hours of crisis call.
  • Establishes an intervention plan, with client and law enforcement, court systems, or hospital emergency rooms participation, which specifies immediate treatment needs and follow-up.
  • Maintains relationships with law enforcement agencies, courts, hospitals, and other key community resources, as well as provide referrals to clients.
  • Ability to handle complex cases.
  • Ability to be on-call, Monday through Sunday. Hours include availability from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Must also be available for consultation with on call staff after hours.
  • Provide after-hours coverage for open after hours' shifts that are unable to be filled, with extra duty pay provided. On-call requires answering and responding to crisis calls during the night hours/weekends and ability to respond to situations on-site during those hours within 30 minutes, or via tele-health within 15 minutes.
  • Is dependable and punctual regarding scheduling and attendance.
  • Refers to other Heartland Family Service programs and other community services, as necessary either concurrent with services or for aftercare.
  • Maintains clinical records, meeting established standards of timeliness and completeness.
  • Is prompt and accurate in completing all required reports and other requirements. Tracks and documents required contract data information for reporting and outcome purposes to funding source and internal program monitoring
  • Displays a courteous and caring attitude at all times to the clientele, volunteers, and visitors of the Agency.
  • Cooperates and collaborates with program area staff, volunteers, and other Agency staff.
  • Abides by all specific program and Agency procedures, policies, and requirements.
  • Develops personal and program related skills through participation in internal and external training opportunities including printed material and audio and/or visual media.
  • *Creates, maintains, and shares an appropriate and dynamic self-care plan.
  • *Strives to make connections between the agency and the larger community whenever possible in order to contribute to the agency's ongoing fundraising and friend-raising efforts.
  • *Essential functions of this job are to be performed remotely from home on the HFS remote worksite.

    • Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage & Family Therapy
    • Two years or more experience
    • Iowa licensed - LMHC or LISW required ( provisional will be considered )
    • Willing to seek licensure in Nebraska as well.
    • Valid driver's license/ acceptable driving record COMPETENCIES Non-Judgmental Self-care- Practices good self-care; maintains effective emotional regulation and manages stress. Integrity-An authentic and honest therapist plays a key role in the client's recovery. Often, a therapist will inadvertently become a role model for the client. That means the therapist should conduct their personal and professional lives with honesty and integrity. Critical thinking- A therapist needs to have the ability to see beyond the surface of the client's issues. Continuous learning- stay updated on the latest research and treatment plans to help clients in the best way possible. Active listening Organization and Time-Management Strategies - Responsible for keeping track of paperwork and fees for clients. Communication-Exhibits clear and concise verbal and written communications; communicates honestly and directly.
