Neuro Duration: 13 or 26 weeks Shift: Night (19:00 - 07:30) Hours
per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in a large urban hospital
License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS Must-Have:
- EPIC charting experience required - Must have 2 years of
experience in a Level I Academic Medical Center - Ability to manage
drips - Familiarity with telemetry and stepdown nursing
Description: This position offers options for either 36 or 48 hours
per week on a 13 or 26-week contract. Nursing staff will operate in
a mixed acuity unit that includes Medical Surgical and Telemetry.
Registered Nurses should be prepared to care for up to five Medical
Surgical patients. The unit consists of 48 beds specializing in
Neurology and Neurosurgery care. Patients include those with
strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, brain and spinal cord
tumors, and various other neurological conditions. The
nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night.
There is potential for the night ratio to increase to 1:7, though
this is rare. For stepdown patients, ratios are 1:3-4, for both day
and night shifts. Floating to various units may be required. A
NICOTINE-FREE environment is mandatory for all staff. Weekend
shifts include 4 weekends in a 4-week period with specified days
assigned. Holidays require working 2 of 3 major holidays during the
contract period. Traveler nurses must be located more than 100
miles from the facility. Pending licenses will be accepted, but
they must be in hand before the contract begins. Staff must wear
specific scrub colors and will receive information on obtaining
these upon confirmation of employment. Compliance documents are
required to meet deadlines. All contracts must conclude on a
