Job Summary The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for delivering professional nursing care to residents of all ages in a long-term care setting, under the guidance of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. The LPN will apply nursing principles relevant to the clinical environment and demonstrate competency within the full scope of nursing knowledge. This role involves utilizing appropriate standards that address the physical and psychosocial needs of residents as outlined in their care plans. The LPN will: Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents. Contribute to resident assessments and administer medications or treatments as prescribed. Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as necessary. Document interactions with residents and outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary needs. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the community. Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary care teams. Communicate clearly while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Advise residents and their families on prevention and treatment plans under the direction of a registered nurse or physician. Utilize knowledge of resident education principles to create self-care programs. Perform additional related duties as assigned. Be available to assist sister facilities as needed. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse is required; an associate degree in practical nursing is preferred. If the position requires IV therapy/management skills, candidates must have graduated from a Board-approved AASPN program that includes IV therapy in the curriculum or completed an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing. Completion of a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the lifespan or a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility is necessary. Specific roles may have additional educational or training requirements. Must possess an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license from the State Nursing Board and/or have multi-state licensure privileges. Must obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications, including completing annual continuing education units (CEUs) and competency training as mandated by the department and facility.
