Roles & Responsibilities Provide high-acuity critical care nursing in a 16-bed Medical ICU, managing sepsis, respiratory failure, stroke and MI patients Assess and monitor critically ill patients; make timely, evidence-based clinical decisions that matter Manage ventilators and BiPAP support, troubleshoot in collaboration with respiratory therapy Titrate drips and vasopressors safely (e.g., levophed, neosynephrine, cardene) and manage sedation infusions per protocols Document accurately and thoroughly in EPIC to ensure continuity of care and clear communication Collaborate with hospitalists and intensivists (in-house days, telemedicine nights) to coordinate escalation and transfers Verify monitor strips and cardiac rhythms, respond to alerts and support code/STEMI/stroke responses Float to Progressive Care (PCU) as needed and support unit operations during high census or staffing needs Qualifications Active RN license eligible for practice in Iowa (required) BLS, ACLS and NIHSS certifications required at start PALS and TNCC are preferred — bonus if you have them Minimum ~2 years of ICU experience preferred, with solid hands-on experience on drips and ventilators Previous travel nursing experience preferred but not required Driver's license required at time of submittal to confirm radius eligibility Ability to pass an open-book orientation exam with a 90% score (pass/fail) Education Active RN license required BSN not required (BSN listed as '' in job details) Knowledge & Skills Ventilator management and ventilator troubleshooting basics BiPAP/CPAP patient support knowledge Titration of drips, vasopressors and sedation infusions Strong critical patient assessment and clinical judgment in high-acuity settings Proficiency with EPIC charting and electronic documentation Familiarity with centralized telemetry and Draeger monitor systems Ability to read and verify cardiac strips and rhythm interpretations Comfort working with multidisciplinary teams including RTs, hospitalists and tele-intensivists Benefits Generous travel support including housing assistance and travel reimbursement to make your assignment comfortable and easy Comprehensive medical, dental & vision coverage options so you and your family are cared for Licensure assistance and reimbursement to keep your credentials current without the headache Paid time to recharge between assignments — because rest makes you better at saving lives Orientation and unit-specific training so you hit the floor confident and prepared A supportive team and collaborative ICU culture that values your expertise Referral rewards and recognition programs for great performers and team players Opportunities for continuing education and professional growth in critical care Travel Perks: Explore Council Bluffs, IA Explore the scenic Loess Hills, take a stroll across the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge into Omaha for dining and nightlife, visit the Union Pacific Railroad Museum or the historic General Dodge House, enjoy outdoor time at Lake Manawa State Park, and try your luck or a show at local casinos.
