Job Description Job Description Director of Nursing (DON) Wilber Care Center Looking for a Director of Nursing role that is truly manageable? Wilber Care Center is seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) for a well-supported skilled nursing facility where leadership is shared, systems are in place, and expectations are realistic. This role is designed for a DON who wants to lead with intention - not burn out. Wilber Care Center is a city-owned skilled nursing facility only; the assisted living community operates separately and is not under the Director of Nursing's scope of responsibility. The SNF is licensed for 58 beds with an average census of 35 residents, allowing for consistent care delivery and stable staffing. The DON is supported by a strong leadership structure that includes two full-time administrative nurses, one dedicated to Quality Assurance and MDS coordination and another who oversees Infection Prevention and day to day clinical responsibilities. The Director of Nursing provides clinical leadership, ensuring compliance with CMS and Nebraska state regulations and maintaining ongoing survey readiness. This role collaborates with physicians, nurse consultants, and the interdisciplinary team to promote resident-centered care, oversee nursing practice standards, and support quality improvement initiatives. The DON leads and mentors nursing staff and participates in hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management, while focusing on leadership development. Wilber Care Center also partners with an experienced management company that provides ongoing clinical support, offering an additional layer of guidance and resources to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices. On-call is rotating and shared to ensure the DON is not carrying on-call responsibilities alone. Qualified candidates must hold a current Nebraska RN license and have experience in long-term care or skilled nursing. Knowledge of CMS requirements, survey processes, and quality assurance principles is preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential. This position offers a competitive salary starting at $95,000 and up depending on experience, along with a $5,000 sign-on bonus.
