Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced
RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Stepdown) position in Council
Bluffs, IA, requiring telemetry strip interpretation and at least 2
years of experience. Details - Acute care stepdown/PCU unit in a
Level 3 trauma hospital setting - 22-bed unit with a 1:4
nurse-to-patient ratio and 1:10 nurse aide-to-patient ratio -
Common patient diagnoses include heart failure, A-fib, respiratory
distress, and stroke - RNs are required to titrate drips, including
Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin - RNs must independently
read and interpret telemetry strips - CPAP equipment is present on
the unit; RNs are expected to troubleshoot as needed - EMR: Epic
experience required - 12-hour day shifts (0630–1900) and night
shifts (1830–0700) available; cyclic scheduling - Every other
weekend required - One major and one minor holiday coverage
required - Floating to the ICU may be required for candidates with
appropriate ICU experience - 13-week contract Requirements - Active
IA or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses are not
accepted - Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS;
pending certifications are not accepted - Minimum 2 years of RN
experience required - Telemetry strip reading and interpretation
skills required - Experience titrating IV drips required - Driver's
license required for consideration and used to verify residence
outside the 50-mile radius - Two professional references required:
one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or
supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of
employment and eligibility for rehire Additional Information -
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility;
driver's license is used to verify permanent address - Candidates
who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by
any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the
past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside
staffing firms will be considered - Orientation consists of one
12-hour shift on the unit - A pass/fail open-book exam is
administered during orientation; a minimum score of 90% is required
to continue the assignment - All RTO must be requested upfront;
additional RTO will not be approved after consideration -
Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal
to comply will result in contract termination - Fast-paced unit
with high admission and discharge volume; successful candidates
demonstrate a positive attitude, strong teamwork, and a
