Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Council Bluffs, IA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,272 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 4/13/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must pass an open book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% to avoid termination. Description: This is a fast-paced unit with a high volume of admits and discharges. RNs are responsible for passing an open book exam during orientation related to skills learned. Candidates must not be employed with any facility associated with the health system within the past year. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove artificial nails will result in contract termination. RNs will work with a nurse-patient ratio of 1:4. Common diagnoses include heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke. RNs are required to titrate drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin. There is a charge nurse on each shift who takes a full patient assignment. Patient care technicians are present with a ratio of 1:10. RNs must troubleshoot CPAP and other respiratory equipment. RNs are required to read and interpret telemonitor strips. Cyclic scheduling is practiced, with shifts of 0630 to 1900 and 1830 to 0700. Weekend work is required every other weekend. Employees must work one major holiday and one minor holiday during the contract period. Floating to other units may occur based on experience. There is one 12-hour shift of unit-specific orientation. Attributes that contribute to success in this role include a positive attitude, teamwork, and a patient-centric approach. Requests for time off must be provided upfront; additional time off will not be approved after submission. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment.
