A leading medical center in Eastern Nebraska is seeking experienced RNs for a 13-week contract opportunity in a progressive PCU Oncology/Trauma unit. This role is ideal for nurses with at least one year of critical care experience, preferably with oncology and step-down patient populations. If you have BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications and a strong commitment to compassionate patient care, this position offers a dynamic environment serving adults in a 27-bed PCU and Med-Surg mixed unit. Key Responsibilities: Provide skilled nursing care to oncology and trauma patients in a PCU setting. Manage nursing ratios of approximately 1:4 in PCU and 1:5 on Med-Surg. Titrate common drips such as insulin and Cardizem according to protocols. Administer chemotherapy and other complex medications. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT/OT, case managers, social workers, dieticians, and charge nurses. Utilize EMR (EPIC) for documentation. Participate in unit safety protocols including hourly rounding and adherence to fingernail policy (no artificial nails). Float to similar critical care units as needed. Complete an open-book competency exam during orientation; a 90% passing score is required. Qualifications & Experience: Registered Nurse with active license. Minimum one year recent experience in PCU, oncology, or trauma nursing. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required; chemotherapy certification preferred but not mandatory. Valid drivers license and residence within a 50-mile radius required. Ability to comply with strict facility policies, including nail hygiene and pass background checks. Experience with ventilators and hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan-Ganz). Comfortable working 12-hour shifts with weekend rotation (self-scheduling).
