Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required Specific
oncology and PCU experience required Successful completion of a
pass/fail exam during orientation Description: The role involves
providing high-quality patient care in a mixed unit setting. Nurses
will manage a patient population that includes oncology and trauma
patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 for PCU and 1:5 for
Med/Surg. Common patient diagnoses include various oncology cases.
The nursing staff will be required to titrate drips such as insulin
and cardizem occasionally. Required competencies include experience
with ventilators and hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, Aline, Swan,
EV-1000, ICP). Support staff including nursing assistants, physical
therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and dieticians
are available on the unit. There is an expectation of teamwork and
support among nursing staff. Successful candidates will demonstrate
a genuine desire to care for patients. Candidates will need to be
adaptable and respectful of diverse backgrounds and beliefs. The
position requires a commitment to ongoing patient assessments and
hourly rounding. Charting is performed using an electronic medical
record system. This is an acute care position in a Level 1 trauma
